Anthony Sanzo v. Wood Chuck Chipper LLC.

The Plaintiff, a 43 year old man, was awarded $900,000.00 in a products liability suit after losing two fingers in a wood chipper accident in April of 1996. The Plaintiff was feeding branches into the woodchipper when the glove on his right hand became entangled in a branch. His hand was pulled into the blades resulting in the serious injuries. He attempted to shut off the machine, and would have suffered even more serious injuries if not for his coworker who was able to shut off the machine. His goal in filing the lawsuit was to make sure that this kind of accident did not happen again, and hopefully would force the manufacturers to construct safer machines. The verdict was reached after a four day trial before Bridgeport Superior Court.
