Two decades later, he was driving a van modified for use by a partially paralyzed driver when he was rear-ended and struck his head on the steering wheel. Following the second motor-vehicle accident, he had neck, left shoulder, left elbow, and head pain. He had a cyst that became symptomatic and enlarged, causing pain, numbness, and weakness. Plaintiff underwent surgery to add a shunt placement. Case settled for of $650,000.

She was transported to the hospital by ambulance and treated for serious head and brain injuries, leaving her permanently disabled with significant memory deficiencies and severe anxiety.

His goal in filing the lawsuit was to force manufacturers to build safer machines. The verdict was reached after a four-day trial in Bridgeport Superior Court.
