AUDREY MORGAN V. CITY OF BRIDGEPORT
The Plaintiff, a 67-year-old woman, was awarded in excess of $365,000.00 after being struck by a metal gate on Clinton Avenue in Bridgeport. The gate was unsecured and was blown open by heavy winds, striking the Plaintiff and knocking her unconscious. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance where she was treated for serious head and brain injuries. She was permanently disabled by the accident and suffered from serious memory deficiencies and severe anxiety as a result.

The Plaintiff, a 39-year-old man, was awarded $295,000.00 in a special arbitration against the City of Bridgeport for a bus accident. The Plaintiff was thrown around the inside of the bus when a car stuck it. He had to undergo three different abdominal surgeries as a result and has permanent back and spinal disabilities as a result. The Plaintiff was injured so badly that he had to withdraw from his technical school program and forfeit his dreams of becoming an auto mechanic.
KIRBY KEENE V. WASTE MANAGEMENT CO.
The Plaintiff, a 38-year-old man, reached a $590,000 settlement with his employer after suffering serious injuries in a work-related accident. The Plaintiff was working on a garbage truck when the driver struck a utility pole, crushing the Plaintiff’s arm. At the time of the accident, the driver of the truck was operating much too close to the side of the street. The Plaintiff sustained serious injuries to his arm and could not work as a result.
NANCY MARTINO V. CRACKER BARREL OLD COUNTRY STORE INC.
The Plaintiff, a 46-year-old woman, was awarded $900,000 via settlement after falling in the kitchen of the Milford Cracker Barrel. The Plaintiff, a waitress at the restaurant, was carrying a stack of dishes when she fell over broken floor tiles and suffered serious back and spinal injuries as a result. The floor was not kept up to a functional standard, as was the cause of the fall. She was wheelchair-bound as a result of the accident.
GENEESE EDWARDS V. NATIONAL COLA COMPANY
The Plaintiff, a 62-year-old woman, was awarded $5.5 million after being hit by a truck on the sidewalk on Harral Avenue in Bridgeport. While waiting on the sidewalk, the Plaintiff was struck by a Coca-Cola delivery vehicle while it was backing up and then struck again when it pulled forward. The Plaintiff suffered serious injuries, including multiple broken bones resulting in permanent disability.
KARINA GUTIERREZ-MARTINEZ V. OSCAR AGUIRRE
During massive thunderstorms swept over Connecticut, the Plaintiff, a 30-year-old woman, went into her basement looking for candles and found what she believed to be a homemade candle. The candle turned out to be an explosive device that went off in her hands. The explosion caused serious injuries to her hands, chest, neck, and face. The Plaintiff’s husband and small child witnessed the explosion and the immediate aftermath, suffering severe emotional trauma. The FBI and the Connecticut Bomb Squad were called in to secure the house and removed and detonated a second explosive device after the surrounding houses had been evacuated. This case is still ongoing.
